Exploring Lampang

Horse Carriages, Phra That, Rice Crackers and ‘Hen’ Clay Bowls
source: Phasuk Trip
For many, Lampang is simple a province en route to a more popular northen destinations like Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai, Lampang is actually a very chaming place, offering a wide range of sightseeing spots and a long history behind it, Arrange in your schedule a couple of days to stay over and you will experience a good surprise.
A Walk in Kad Kongta
Upon your arrival, take the opportunity to explore the town right away. Hit ‘Kad Kongta’ also know as Chinses Market, a 100-year-old commercial and trade hub stretching along Wang River, The whole street is dotted with buildings bearing Chinses-Burmese architectural styles. The area also features a significant landmark of lampang — Rasadapisek Bridge which is a ‘photo-taking’ spot. At right time, light decorations would prop up the place and provind a busting atmosphere for tourists. Come by around 6 pm onwards and experience another charming walking street which might resemble to that of Pai but less busy
A Horse Carriang Ride to the Temple
Horse carriages are the symbol of Lampang, "Horse carriages came before cars. People around here always give way to the horse," said Uncle Toon, a carriage rider and our tour guide. Each ride to tourist attractions around town costs about 250-350 Bath. Our next stop was Kaew Don Tao Emeraid Buddha Temple. Belonging to the lanna Empire, the temple used to enshrine the Emerald Buddha before it was moved to Bangkok. The Phra That Chedi inside the temple also houses the Lond Buddha’s hair.
Hub of Veramics and ‘Hen’ Clay Bowls
Lampang is enriched with minerals and considered Thailand’s one of the most important coal mines used for generating electricity. The province is also abundant with white clay which is the perfect material for making pottery. The ceramics and pottery business in Lampang has been going on for over 100 years. The business brings to Thailand more than three billion bath income per year.
The signature ceramic product is the very famous and unmistakable ‘hen’ clay bowls. We visited Khun Thanorn’s small sized factory that has only one little Oven. He designs all the products by himself and is content with his monthly income. if you are looking for a find ceramic work at a good price, check out "Kad Muan Jai’ a ceramic shop owned by a 81-year-old granny. Khunyai Boonsom offers all the products at a very good bargain since these items, still in a good condition, are the remaining stockpiles or the out-of-season batches that the store cannot put on sale anymore

Hotels in Phuket
Phuket Hotels and Tourist Information
Phuket The largest island in Thailand, sitting on the south-west coast, ringed by white, sandy beaches, and the warm Andaman Sea. Phuket offers the visitor to Thailand everything the travel brochures promise, with world-class scuba diving, long, sun-drenched beaches, and a throbbing nightlife that rivals any destination in the world. The most developed beach is Patong, and it is here that one finds the good-natured contradictions that regular visitors to Thailand adore. Glitzy restaurants alongside stalls selling simple, Thai street food, all-night cabaret shows and massage parlours, right next door to family restaurants and western-style supermarkets.
Spectacular scenery, stunning tropical sunsets and warm blue sea awaits you at Asia’s most popular beach destination. This fun island provides an unbeatable combination of perfect silky soft white palm-lined beaches, superb hospitality and great value accommodation!
Phuket hotels and resorts are scattered all over the island, and choosing which beach to stay on is about the most stressful decision one has to deal with while visiting this remarkable island. To the south of the island one finds gorgeous Kata and Karon beaches, decidedly less hedonistic than Patong, and perhaps more suited to the vacationing family. Further south again is Nai-Harn beach, with just a couple of expensive Phuket resorts at the far end of the beach and a row of classic outdoor restaurants tucked away in the shade behind the beach, a popular spot with locals and expats.
For those lucky enough to be arriving in Phuket with their own sailing boat, there are at least three marinas of international standard, and a wide choice of safe, sheltered anchorages, particularly on the east side of the island. From these marinas one can easily organize a day charter or longer on any number of different vessels, from modern catamarans, to a traditional Asian junk.
The capital of the island, Phuket City, is located towards the center of the island, and also offers a great choice of hotels, making for an interesting alternative to Phuket’s beaches. The classic, Sino-Portugese architecture of the downtown has been well-preserved, and many streets exude an air of timelessness that is increasingly difficult to find in modern Thailand.
