Sometimes called adventure tourism, ecotourism, nature tourism, outdoor tourism, soft adventure or extreme sports; adventure travel is defined as the exploration of a remote area where travelers can expect the unexpected.

But no matter what you choose to call it, as tourists continue to seek enriching adventures in nature, personal challenge and discovery, the continued success of this fast-growing sector of the Puerto Vallarta tourism industry pivots around one important factor - SAFETY.

At Vallarta Adventures, your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. Our safety record is unparalleled, our guides are fully trained, our equipment is state-of-the-art, and we continually monitor conditions to make certain every trip is run safely by utilizing the highest quality safety standards.

Both our Outdoor Adventure and Canopy Tours follow a rigid set of risk management standards, guidelines and inspections. Our safety policy consists of three parts:


1. Equipment and Tour Elements

• We use only top-quality safety equipment made by reputable manufacturers.

• All appropriate safety equipment is provided on every tour.
• We maintain a rigorous and documented inspection and maintenance program regularly.

• We follow all manufacturers’ recommendations for the use and care of equipment.

• Only qualified personnel handle equipment.

2. Safety Techniques

• We use internationally recognized high-angle safety rules and techniques.

• Participants are connected to the fall-arrest system at all times when 2 meters or more above the ground.

• Participants are under the care and control of qualified personal at all times.
3. Tour Personnel

• Our guides receive 200 hours of formal training in safety and Canopy Tour operations, plus basic rescue and first aid courses.

• Guides are prohibited from performing their duties if unfit due, but not limited, to: exhaustion, illness or injury, alcohol or drug use.

• Bilingual personnel or translators are used to explain safety rules and procedures.

In spite of all that we do to ensure your safety, in activities such as these, we cannot predict nor completely eliminate all of the potential risks. During normal tour operations, participants may receive minor injuries such as cuts and bruises, muscle strains, small friction burns or insect bites.

Although serious accidents are highly unlikely, there is the potential for life-threatening injury on either tour. All guests must sign an Acknowledgement of Risk prior to participating, and we reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone for safety reasons.
